Choosing your leaf

Names such as Thai, Indo, Borneo, Vietnam and Malay are regional trade names, and they seldom point to one particular farm. Our essay on what single origin really means sets out what such a name may tell you, and what it leaves unsaid. There is no need to hurry: choose a strain, then decide whether you would rather have it as loose powder or in capsules, and only then settle on the size you want.

Frequently asked questions

Where does the name green vein come from?

The phrase is a convention for naming kratom leaf, tying together vein color and the manner of drying. Our guide to vein colors explains it in full.

Green Malay or Green Borneo: how do they differ?

Each one is sold under its own regional trade name. You can read the pair side by side in our Green Malay guide and its Green Borneo companion.

Is this whole leaf, or an extract?

Everything sold as powder or leaf capsules is ground kratom leaf. Extracts are another thing altogether: the shots, the gummies and the extract capsules are all concentrated, and generally labeled by milligrams of mitragynine (MIT). They have a shelf of their own under kratom extracts & shots.

Can I see a lab report?

Yes. On each product page you will find a link to the maker's lab certificate (COA), or a note on how to ask for it. Find the lot or batch code on your package and match it to the one on the report; if you would like a hand, our plain guide to kratom COAs is there to help.

Who may buy?

Adults 21 or older. We do not ship to any state or locality where kratom is restricted; our where we ship page sets out the details, with our guide to kratom law, state by state for further reading.
